About
Honey Creek Farm
Our Farm
Honey Creek Farms was founded in 2018. The farm has been managed organically from the very start. Honey Bees were the first animals on the farm, and in early 2019 we added the dairy herd. It took a three year transition period for our land and cows to be Certified Organic, which was accomplished in 2021. Since then, we have added the heritage chicken breed, Silver Laced Wyandottes and Purebred Berkshire pigs. More recently Purebred Milking Shorthorn calves were added to aid in the preservation of another heritage breed.
We are members of many organizations aligned with our vision. Including;
-
Heritage Livestock Canada
-
Ontario Poultry Breeders
-
Ontario Beekeepers Association
-
Ontario Barn Preservation Society
-
Canadian Milking Shorthorn Society
-
Holstein Association of Canada
-
Dairy Farmers of Ontario

Our Story
Local Family Farm
I'm Shane. From childhood, insects and eventually the honey bee have been important to me. The establishment of my own apiary made me acutely aware of the effects that farming has on insects and the general environment. During my undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph I studied Agriculture, including organic management courses, where I learned the foundations of sustainable food production. I then completed my MSc in Honey Bee Research where I broadened my knowledge in Honey Bee biology and the Ontario Beekeeping industry. After University I spent several years working for the OMAFRA apiary program as an apiary inspector. These days I am full time on the farm and managing our apiary. I am passionate about producing food in a sustainable way while benefiting the ecosystems around us. I always enjoy talking to new people and explaining why organic matters. Looking forward to meeting you!

I'm Megan. Having grown up on a dairy farm, I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else and raising my kids any other way. After working on an organic dairy farm in Holland, I realized that organic farming was a passion for me. While studying Agriculture Science at the University of Guelph Shane and I met. Our vision for life and agriculture aligned and we both strive to maintain healthy soil and raise animals with the highest degree of welfare. We have enjoyed seeing the wildlife return to our farm since we transitioned to organic management, started maintaining permanent grasslands and planted many trees. It truly is a connected system of nature and farming. We are growing food that we feel good about feeding to our family and yours.
